As usual, over its two days, The Real Wine Fair will host a series of fascinating wine workshops given by experts in the trade. All will take place in the workshop room next to reception. SUNDAY, 28th APR
12:pm – 1:00pm – “A Question of Taste” ~ A discussion about the qualities that make for a truly great wine and whether we ought to use different descriptive criteria in wine assessment and what those might be. With author Alice Feiring (The Feiring Line) and Doug Wregg– hosted by Christina Pickard (Wine Enthusiast). Two wines will be tasted.
2:00pm – 3:00pm – “Communicating About Wine.” ~ Honey Spencer (author of Natural Wine No Drama) and Christina Rasmussen (co-founder of Little Wine) talk about their respective projects and their desires to enthuse and inform the trade and consumers about wine in general, and low intervention wine, in particular.
3:30pm – 4:30pm – “Lisbon Wines – Making Waves, Leading The Way.” ~ Four leading producers from Lisboa discuss the impact their region has had on Portugal’s wine revolution in the last three decades. With Portuguese Story’s Roman Gonitel, moderated by Ines Salpico, Regional Editor for Portugal for Decanter.
MONDAY, 29th APR
12:30pm – 1:30pm – “Wine Philosophy in Practice: Idea to Glass.” ~ Christina Rasmussen in conversation with pioneering Alsatian vignerons Jean-Pierre Frick (Domaine Pierre Frick) and Christian Binner (Domaine Christian Binner). Exploring the interconnections of viticulture and the wine in the glass, as well as cultural perceptions and interpretations of wine.
2:00pm – 3:00pm – – “Hybrid Love & Regenerative Farming.” ~ Deirdre Heekin (La Garagista Farm and Winery, Vermont), Christina Pickard (The Wine Enthusiast) and Richard Woodfine (Woodfine Wines in Seer Green, Bucks) talk about whether hybrids can be the answer to climate change and how regenerative farming can help mitigate against environmental degradation.
