Morgadio da Calçada

Morgadio da Calcada

Morgadio da Calçada is the prized traditional vineyard of the Casa da Calçada family in the Provezende village on the Pinhão River. A grand mixture of indigenous grape varieties are grown on vines, some of which are over 80 years old, located on top of a hill 600m above sea level. The wines and ports made by Dirk Niepoort are unique for Douro with emphasis on freshness and elegance. Minimum intervention occurs in the vineyard and the winery and sulphur additions are added based on vintage requirements. Organic brandy is used for port fortification.
