LA FOLLE BERTHE, Saumur – Organic

A former Parisian journalist David Foubert moved to Saumur for a life change and to study winemaking. Producing his first vintage in 2014, with no cellar, he made wine at Melaric. From 2015 he is working 4.5 hectares of vines with biodynamic principles that he has leased from Philippe Gourdon. With Chenin, Cabernet Franc and Pineau d’Aunis mostly on clay and limestone, there are two exceptional vineyards; Les Vigneaux and Les Fontonelles that have a high percentage of flint, you can really feel it in the wine. David’s wines are ready when they are ready and we get releases on a sporadic basis.
