TOKAJ-HÉTSZOLO, Tokaj – Organic

The creation of the Royal Imperial Estate of Tokaj-Hétsz?l? estate owes nothing to chance: in 1502 the Garai family simply selected the best 7 parcels of the land in the region, hence the name – Hét Szolo which means “7 parcels of vineyard” in Hungarian, it has been under vine ever since. The site certainly has an illustrious history having been owned by the Habsburg royal family for two centuries. Now the vineyard is tended in line with environmental principles and the estate is cultivated organically. Ecological islands have been established next to vine parcels to increase biodiversity. Allied to these changes is a move towards more natural wine making, using indigenous yeasts and spontaneous fermentation.
