Gentle Folk

GENTLE FOLK, Adelaide Hills

Hailing from the hills and valleys of Basket Range, South Australia, Gareth and Rainbo Belton first started making wine under the Gentle Folk label in 2012. They now grow wine from seven hectares of Pinot noir, Chardonnay, Sauvignon blanc, Riesling, Cabernet franc & Merlot, spread across six parcels and all of which are farmed organically and without irrigation. The aim is to intervene as minimally as possible in the cellar with grapes being picked by hand, only natural yeasts being used and no sulphur added during fermentation. They believe that by growing grapes and making wine this way, they can capture an honest expression of their sites and show a different side of Australian wine.
