Clos du Gravillas

CLOS DU GRAVILLAS, NICOLE AND JOHN BOJANOWSKI, St-Jean-de-Minervois – Organic

Nicole grew up in Narbonne, with her ‘accent du SUD’, her laugh, her contagious enthusiasm. John came to St Jean de Minervois from much farther west, the land of horses and bourbon, Kentucky. In 1996, this sud French girl convinced her southern bred boy that the white lime-stones of St Jean were the most beautiful rocks in the world. Now he sings, she dances. Their vineyards, 8 hectares on the 270 metre altitude Causses of St Jean and Cazelles, benefit from ample summer sunny days and a cooling breeze blowing down off of the Montagne Noire at night. Clos du Gravillas is best known for saving the World, or at least making it safe for Carignan again.  But they are recently rather obsessed with Pink Grapes–Piquepoul,  Terret, Grenache et al, and with understanding the Oranging of extremely aromatic grapes.
