CHÂTEAU BAROUILLET, VINCENT ALEXIS, Bergerac – Biodynamic

Vincent is an eighth-generation winemaker; joining his father in 2010, when he started the organic “project” at Barouillet. Organic conversion started with six hectares and since 2013 the entire 45-hectare estate has been organic, with biodynamic certification in 2021. Vincent is aiming for a much fresher style than Pomport is traditionally known for. Work in the cellar is delicate, extractions are low, and sulphur is rarely used, if ever. He enjoys a Sunday afternoon making a lasagne of macerated grapes in his winery and grating truffles over every dish in the kitchen.

About Vincent: We’ll get alone if: “You don’t mind helping me hand-press 300kg of Muscadelle into an amphora after it has macerated for three months”. I know the best spot in town for: “Perigord Truffles”. Overly competitive about: “My collection of concrete eggs”.
