Founded almost forty years ago by Giuseppe and Grazia, and today managed by their children, the family-run winery Sedilesu is located in Mamoiada, a small town in Sardinia’s Barbagia region. The area, situated between 650 and 850 metres above sea level, is recognised as one of the most suitable areas for the cultivation of Cannonau. The Sedilesu winery covers approximately 17 hectares of traditionally bush-trained Cannonau vines, between three and one hundred years in age, and a small amount of the white indigenous grape Granazza. The family has always been natural by vocation. Since their beginnings the farming has been organic, and this approach is also continued in the cellars: spontaneous fermentations, medium-long macerations, ageing mainly in large barrels and cement without any clarifications, and a low use of sulphites are the key elements of their winemaking.
